Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has signed a binding long-term supply and purchase agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation of South Korea for the supply of green ammonia over a 15-year period beginning in the second half of FY2029.
The agreement, valued at more than $3 billion, is among the largest long-term green ammonia offtake contracts announced globally.
Under the agreement, Reliance will supply green ammonia produced through its new energy ecosystem in India. The company said the arrangement aligns with India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, which aims to build domestic production capacity for green hydrogen and its derivatives.
Reliance said it is developing an integrated new energy platform covering renewable power generation, energy storage, green hydrogen, and downstream green fuels and chemicals. The company is also establishing domestic manufacturing capabilities for technologies such as solar modules, battery energy storage systems and electrolysers.
According to the company, these elements are being brought together to create a single ecosystem capable of producing green fuels for domestic use and export markets.
Anant Ambani, executive director at Reliance Industries, said the partnership would support the expansion of the company’s green hydrogen ecosystem and manufacturing capacity.
Through its new energy business, Reliance is developing a large-scale renewable energy platform that includes a solar and storage project in Kutch designed to supply round-the-clock renewable power. The power is expected to feed integrated green hydrogen and ammonia production facilities at Jamnagar.
The projects are anchored by the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Complex, a 5,000-acre manufacturing hub that will house gigafactories producing solar modules, batteries, electrolysers, fuel cells and power electronics. Reliance has also committed to achieving net carbon neutrality by 2035.
The agreement with Samsung C&T is expected to be the first in a series of long-term offtake arrangements linked to the scale-up of Reliance’s new energy platform.
Reliance Industries reported consolidated revenue of ₹10.71 lakh crore, cash profit of ₹1.46 lakh crore and net profit of ₹81,309 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2025.
