Ramkrishna Forgings is set to enter the forged wheel manufacturing sector, with plans to establish a new production facility in Chennai, a senior company official told PTI.
The automotive components manufacturer is developing a manufacturing plant with an annual production capacity of 228,000 forged wheels, according to company officials. The project represents a significant expansion into a new product vertical for the firm.
Managing Director Naresh Jalan revealed details of the project in a recent interaction with PTI. The total investment for the Chennai facility is estimated at Rs 2,000 crore, which will be financed through a combination of debt and equity funding.
The company has outlined a phased production schedule for the new facility. Initial production is expected to commence in FY27 with approximately 40,000 wheels, according to Jalan's statements to PTI. The company then plans to scale operations substantially, targeting production of 100,000 wheels by FY28.
"If all goes as planned, this single vertical could generate multi crore annual revenues, making it one of the company's most significant growth engines," Jalan told PTI, highlighting the strategic importance of this new business segment.
The forged wheel manufacturing venture represents RamKrishna Forgings' diversification strategy as it seeks to expand beyond its traditional product offerings.
