Tata Motors Secures Over 3,400 Electric Commercial Vehicle Orders Across Freight, Logistics and Passenger Segments
Orders comprise about 2,000 small commercial vehicles and pick-ups, 900 trucks and 500 buses, spanning e-commerce, mining and passenger transport applications.
Tata Motors has secured over 3,400 electric commercial vehicle (eCV) orders across freight, logistics and passenger mobility segments, the company announced on Sunday. The orders comprise approximately 2,000 small commercial vehicles (SCVs) and pick-ups, 900 trucks and 500 buses, covering applications ranging from e-commerce, logistics, and FMCG/FMCD distribution to cement, steel, mining and tarmac operations, as well as inter- and intra-city passenger transport.
Tata Motors said the deployment reflects growing customer confidence in electric mobility under real-world operating conditions and marks a shift from pilot programmes to scaled, operational integration of EVs across use cases.
Over the past 12 months, the company has expanded its eCV portfolio with models designed for different duty cycles. In the small commercial vehicle and pick-up segment, the Ace Pro EV, Ace EV and Intra EV serve last-mile and intra-city distribution.
The portfolio now also covers intermediate and heavy-duty applications through the Ultra EV range (7-12 tonnes), the Prima EV 55T tractor and the Prima EV 28T tipper. In passenger mobility, the Starbus EV and Ultra EV buses support intra-city and intercity operations.
Tata Motors' existing electric fleet includes over 3,800 electric buses operating across multiple cities, with a cumulative run of more than 55 crore (550 million) kilometres. More than 17,000 Tata eSCVs are currently on Indian roads.
To support adoption, the company has built a charging network with more than 14 charge point operators, set up EV financing arrangements with banks and non-banking financial companies, and deployed its Fleet Edge fleet-management platform alongside uptime assurance programmes.
