Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma flagged off electric buses from EKA Mobility in Jaipur on June 20, 2026, in a ceremony attended by senior government officials and transport authorities, as the state continues its push towards cleaner public transportation.
The flag-off marks the first phase of deployment under an order for 876 electric buses awarded to EKA Mobility in consortium with Chartered Speed under the central government's PM e-Bus Sewa initiative. The buses will be operated and deployed by Chartered Speed across eight cities in Rajasthan.
Sudhir Mehta, Founder and Chairman of EKA Mobility, said that EKA's electric mobility solutions currently operate in states ranging from Rajasthan and Uttarakhand to Arunachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
The buses are built on EKA's electric vehicle platform and include features such as fleet management systems and zero tailpipe emissions. They are also designed with a wheelchair lift door mechanism intended to allow safer boarding and deboarding for wheelchair users.
EKA Mobility, formally known as Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., counts Mitsui & Co. of Japan and VDL Groep of the Netherlands among its equity partners. The company describes itself as operating one of India's largest electric commercial vehicle portfolios, spanning buses, trucks and smaller commercial vehicles.
