Only 13% EV battery degradation even after 3,000 cycles testing, Exponent achieves industry first

Traditionally, Li-ion cells experience a decline in health (charge capacity) as they undergo cycles of full charge and discharge (1 cycle = 1 full charge + 1 full discharge) and rapid charging exacerbates this issue.

Only 13% EV battery degradation even after 3,000 cycles testing, Exponent achieves industry first

Exponent Energy, an energy-tech startup that’s unlocked a 0 to 100% charge in 15 minutes for EVs, has completed 3000 cycle testing in collaboration with German testing agency, TUV India (TUV Nord Group, Germany).

The testing reports only 13% battery degradation even after 3,000 cycles of 15-minute rapid charging of Exponent’s battery pack - the e^pack. This achievement marks a significant milestone in addressing the challenges associated with battery health degradation and rapid charging.

Traditionally, Li-ion cells experience a decline in health (charge capacity) as they undergo cycles of full charge and discharge (1 cycle = 1 full charge + 1 full discharge) and rapid charging exacerbates this issue. However, Exponent Energy’s energy stack, which enables a 15-minute full charge, has demonstrated performance in maintaining battery health of 87% of its health in 3,000 cycles, the press release claims.

Arun Vinayak, CEO and Co-founder, Exponent Energy said, “Delivering 15-minute rapid charging whilst maintaining remarkable battery health is a game- changing proposition. This achievement makes us the first player in the industry to witness only 13% degradation over 3,000 testing cycles on LFP-based battery packs as compared to the industry average of 30% degradation in 1,500 cycles with slow charging. TUV India’s (TUV Nord Group, Germany) report will undoubtedly enhance trust in our technology with all key stakeholders in the EV ecosystem.”

Earlier this year, Exponent had unlocked 5-year financing with 30% lower EMI in partnership with Alt Mobility. Combined with the successful completion of 3000 cycle testing, Exponent aims to on-board many more financing partners to ensure that EVs powered by Exponent continue to be the most advanced and affordable EVs for customers to purchase.
