Ola Electric Says LFP Battery Cell Ready, Product Integration from Next Quarter
Ola Electric's Chairman reveals the company's homegrown LFP battery cell is production-ready, with thousands of vehicles already running on its 4680 cells logging millions of kilometres.
Ola Electric Mobility Limited has disclosed to the stock exchanges that its Promoter and Chairman & Managing Director, Bhavish Aggarwal, announced via social media on April 7, 2026, that the company has successfully developed its Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery cell in the 46100 cylindrical format — a larger form factor compared to its existing NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) cell.
The disclosure was filed with both the BSE (Scrip Code: 544225) and the National Stock Exchange (Symbol: OLAELEC) in compliance with listing regulations governing social media communications by promoters and key managerial personnel.
According to the filing, the newly developed 46100 format LFP cell is described as being ready for commercial deployment and is expected to begin entering Ola Electric's product lineup from the next quarter. The company also noted that thousands of vehicles powered by its earlier 4680 cells are already on roads, having collectively covered several million kilometres under real-world conditions.
The company highlighted several strategic implications of the LFP chemistry transition, including a further reduction in vehicle costs, faster adoption of electric vehicles, a foundation for future battery storage products, and the next major phase of scaling up its Gigafactory operations.
The announcement also referenced Ola Electric's broader "End ICE Age" initiative, under which the company has undertaken measures such as customer affordability schemes, service guarantees, vehicle buyback programs, and passing on Production Linked Incentive (PLI) benefits on its motorbike range. The company stated that its long-term vision extends beyond vehicles to building a full energy stack.
The regulatory filing was signed by Deepak Rastogi, Chief Financial Officer of Ola Electric Mobility Limited, from Bengaluru.
