New Maruti SUV teased ahead of September 3 launch

Maruti Suzuki has released a first teaser of its all-new SUV that goes on sale on September 3, 2025. This new SUV is likely to be called the Victoris and will be sold via Arena showrooms.  The teaser shows the SUVs LED taillamp design that seems to be tapering towards the sides and extends over to the tailgate.

The new Maruti Victoris SUV will be positioned above the popular Brezza but below the Grand Vitara in Maruti’s vast car and SUV line-up. The positioning of this SUV follows the strategy similar to the Ertiga–XL6 sales model. Just as the Ertiga is retailed via Arena and the XL6 through Nexa, the new SUV will be an Arena product, while the Grand Vitara remains in Nexa’s more premium line-up.

With over 3,000 Arena outlets across India, compared to around 600 Nexa dealerships, the new SUV will have far wider market reach. This makes it Maruti Arena’s new flagship product, filling a gap left since the launch of the Brezza and Ertiga. Positioned with a strong value-for-money quotient, the SUV will take on rivals like the Hyundai Creta, the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun facelift, and the refreshed Skoda Kushaq.

Like the Grand Vitara, Maruti’s upcoming mid-size SUV will also feature a petrol-automatic AWD variant. This new Creta rival will share its powertrain options with the Maruti Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. Under the hood, it will get a 103hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The petrol-automatic version will be available with AWD, while all other variants will be front-wheel drive. Buyers will also have the option of an 88hp CNG version, along with a more advanced 116hp petrol-electric hybrid at the top of the range.

Maruti will also export the SUV to overseas markets, where it may be badged as the Escudo. A Toyota derivative based on the same platform is also in the pipeline, though it will arrive at a later date.
