Mobec Innovation Opens Lithium Battery Recycling Plant in Noida
New facility processes 6,000 tons annually, supporting domestic material recovery for clean energy applications while reducing India's dependence on imported critical minerals.
Mobec Innovation has inaugurated its first lithium battery recycling plant in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant development in India's clean energy infrastructure. The facility, with an annual processing capacity of 6,000 tons, aims to reduce the country's reliance on imported critical minerals while supporting national sustainability goals.
The plant represents Mobec's strategic expansion beyond its core business of B2B mobile EV charging solutions and energy storage systems. According to company officials, the new facility employs advanced hydrometallurgical and mechanical extraction processes to recover valuable materials from end-of-life batteries, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, graphite, copper, and manganese.
"By reducing our dependency on imported lithium, other critical minerals and reclaiming valuable resources, we are reinforcing our commitment to green mobility, sustainability, and environmental responsibility." said Harry Bajaj, CEO of Mobec Innovation.
The recycling operation features a multi-stage processing system that begins with battery dismantling and component separation, followed by black mass collection, purification, and final extraction of valuable metals. These recovered materials will serve multiple industries, including electric vehicle manufacturing, renewable energy, consumer electronics, aerospace, and healthcare sectors.
Industry analysts note that the facility aligns with India's Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) mission by localizing the supply chain for critical battery materials. The plant has received necessary environmental certifications from the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and is supported by the company's in-house research and development capabilities.
Established as a technology company in India, Mobec Innovation provides business-to-business mobile electric vehicle charging solutions and energy storage systems. The company has positioned itself within India's growing clean technology sector with its customisable service offerings.
Mobec recently expanded its operations with the opening of a lithium battery recycling facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. This plant, with an annual processing capacity of 6,000 tons, represents diversification beyond the company's original focus areas. The facility utilizes hydrometallurgical and mechanical extraction processes to recover valuable materials from used batteries.
The company's business strategy aligns with several national objectives, including the Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative and the country's Net Zero emissions targets. By establishing domestic processing capabilities for critical battery materials, Mobec contributes to reducing import dependencies for resources used in electric mobility and renewable energy applications.
Mobec maintains research and development operations that support its technical processes and environmental compliance. The company has obtained regulatory certifications from relevant authorities, including the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
The materials recovered through Mobec's recycling operations serve multiple industrial sectors, including electric vehicle manufacturing, renewable energy, consumer electronics, and healthcare equipment production.
