Mercedes Benz registers 11% year on year growth

Mercedes-Benz today announced strong sales momentum in the January-September 2023 period, delivering 12,768 new cars to customers. With a growth of 11% YTD, Mercedes-Benz continued to witness all-round demand for its products, despite facing supply challenges in Q3.

The strong customer preference for the brand is driven by an attractive product portfolio and a seamless omni-channel customer journey experience, created with ‘Retail of the Future’ business model. The sustained demand for both new and existing products across entry and core segment was key in driving sales momentum in January-September 2023.

The demand for high-end Mercedes-Benz, AMG, and EQS models belonging to the TEV (Top End Vehicle) segment continued to remain strong growing by up to 22%, contributing approximately 25% of Mercedes Benz’s sales volume in the first nine months of the year. "The TEV segment continues to grow in customer preference with up to 22% YTD growth, comprising 1 out of every 4 Mercedes sold in India," said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes Benz India.

The company's BEV (battery electric vehicle) portfolio comprising the EQB, EQE 500 SUV and the updated EQS 580 luxury sedan, continued its customer preference, noted a press release.

"The launch of EQE SUV has also been successful giving fillip to our electric offering. Mercedes-Benz is hosting ‘Sustainability Fest’ in October for customers to enhance their awareness and interest in our sustainability ambitions," Iyer further stated.

"We are excited that Mercedes-Benz remains the most desirable luxury brand in India, and we are doing everything possible to fulfill our customers’ expectations and wishes. In continuation of curating the best customer experience, we are embarking on an exclusive partnership with NMACC, offering our customers bespoke experiences from the world of exclusive art and culture."

"Our customers are connoisseurs of the ‘extraordinary’ and through our association with NMACC, they will now have an elevated experience and exclusive access to world-renowned artists and avant-garde eclectic art shows at NMACC, Iyer stated.

The LWB E-Class remained the highest-selling model for Mercedes-Benz India.

There was very high demand for the newly launched GLC SUV, despite global supply constraints for the model. The New A-Class and the C-Class continue their strong market demand, contributing significant volumes for the sedan segment, the release further noted. "Strong desirability for Mercedes-Benz cars buoyed our January-September sales momentum. However, we were not able to supply as per the full market potential, especially for new products like the GLC; though we are making every effort to fulfill customer expectations, despite current supply chain challenges. We thank our customers, patiently waiting for their Three-Pointed Star," Iyer said.

Focus on sustainability

As the world celebrates “Sustainability Day” on 26th October, Mercedes-Benz has dedicated October as the ‘Sustainability Month’ with innovative initiatives planned to raise awareness on the topic of sustainability and sustainable practices. Mercedes-Benz will support with 50% of the road tax for any EQB, EQS and EQE SUV sold in October. The 50% support on the road tax is for those states where road tax is applicable at the time of registration of electric vehicles.
