Mercedes-Benz India Posts Record Q2, H1 Sales on CLA and Top-End Demand

Mercedes-Benz India’s retail sales rose 10% year on year to a record 4,637 units in the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong demand for its entry-luxury models and continued traction in the core and top-end segments.

The Entry Luxury segment was the main growth driver during Q2, with sales rising 29%. Demand was led by the newly introduced CLA battery-electric vehicle and the GLA SUV.

Mercedes-Benz’s electric-vehicle share doubled to 14% of its total Q2 sales, supported by the CLA and the EQS SUV. Sales of top-end electric vehicles, priced above ₹1.4 crore, increased 85% during the quarter.

The CLA was sold out within days of its launch and currently has a waiting period of five to six months, the company said.

“The success of the new CLA BEV is an affirmation that Mercedes-Benz customers prefer owning the latest technology, with the car being sold out within few days of market introduction,” Mercedes-Benz India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Santosh Iyer said. “The CLA BEV has propelled Mercedes-Benz’s BEV penetration to reach 14% in Q2 2026.”

The quarterly performance helped Mercedes-Benz record its highest-ever first-half sales in India. The company retailed 9,768 vehicles during January-June 2026, up 9% from 9,013 units in the corresponding period last year. All figures reported by the company are retail sales.

Top-End, Core Models Drive H1 Performance

While Entry Luxury led growth during Q2, the Top-End Luxury and Core segments were the main contributors to the company’s first-half performance.

Top-End Luxury sales increased by more than 20% in H1 and accounted for a record 28% of Mercedes-Benz India’s overall volumes. The segment includes the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach models, the EQS SUV, Mercedes-AMG cars and the newly introduced V-Class.

Mercedes-AMG sales rose 50% during the first half, reflecting growing demand for performance-oriented luxury cars. Waiting periods for top-end vehicles currently range from four months to as long as one year for models such as the AMG G 63.

“H1 2026 has shown increased preference for our Top-End Vehicles, with the share of TEVs now reaching an all-time high of 28%, fuelled by the introduction and growing demand for the new V-Class and the 50% growth trajectory achieved by the AMG portfolio,” Iyer said.

The CLA BEV and EQS SUV drove Mercedes-Benz’s electric-vehicle sales in Q2, with BEVs accounting for 14% of the company’s total retail volumes. The CLA led demand in the Entry Luxury segment, while the EQS SUV remained its highest-selling top-end electric model.

The company also reported strong demand for the S-Class plug-in hybrid. Bookings for the AMG Line have closed, while orders for the Exclusive Line are filling up ahead of deliveries during the festive season.

Positive H2 Outlook

Mercedes-Benz maintained a positive outlook for the second half of 2026, although it did not provide a sales target.

The company plans to add new outlets in markets including Varanasi, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad during H2. Five new luxury outlets are scheduled to be inaugurated during the third quarter.

Mercedes-Benz added six touchpoints during the first half across Bengaluru, Bhopal, Raipur, Goa and Visakhapatnam.

Its franchise partners plan to invest more than ₹450 crore over the next two years to open and upgrade over 20 outlets. The company is also exploring new retail formats and the use of artificial intelligence and automation in its network. Mercedes-Benz currently has more than 140 touchpoints across over 50 cities in India.
