Maruti Invicto Sells 12,420 Units Since Launch, Remains Lowest-Selling UV for Carmaker

Maruti Suzuki’s most premium MPV and the badge-engineered version of the Toyota Innova Hycross sold through the Nexa channel, remains the lowest-selling utility vehicle for the company with a less than 1% contribution to the UV market leader’s sales since its launch on July 5, 2023.

Maruti Invicto Sells 12,420 Units Since Launch, Remains Lowest-Selling UV for Carmaker

The Maruti Invicto, the most premium Maruti Suzuki MPV in India which shares its platform with the Toyota Innova Hycross and priced between Rs 24.97 lakh and Rs 28.61 lakh (ex-showroom),turns three years old today. As per industry wholesales data, the Maruti Invicto, which was launched on July 5, 2023 and is retailed via the premium Nexa sales channel, has sold 12,420 units till end-May 2026 (see fiscal year sales data below). This is far lower than what Maruti Suzuki would have expected, considering the Invicto was launched with a view to tap the potential of the over-Rs 20 lakh price segment.

For Maruti Suzuki – India’s longstanding utility vehicle (UV) market leader – the Invicto remains its lowest-selling UV model since launch and accounts for less than 1% its UV sales between FY2024 and May 2026. In FY2024, the Invicto’s first fiscal year, the MPVsold 4,599 units to be ranked seventh behind the Jimny (17,009 units) and accounted for 0.71% of Maruti’s total UV sales of 642,296 units. Sales fell 12% YoY in FY2025 to 4,036 units with its share of Maruti UVs dropping to 0.56 percent. FY2026 saw the Invicto hit a low of 3,247 units, down by 20% YoY, with its UV share going down even more to 0.42 percent. It was ranked last amongst Maruti’s nine UVs, below the e-Vitara (3,652 units).  However, there seems to be a revival of sorts in early FY2027 – Invicto wholesales in April-May 2026 at 538 units are up 27% YoY (April-May 2025: 424 units) albeit this premium MPV continues to holdonto its ninth Maruti UV position below the e-Vitara (3,445 units in April-May 2026).

The Invicto, the rebadged Toyota Innova Hycross, remains the lowest-selling model in Maruti Suzuki’s utility vehicle line-up. In the same 38-month period above, the Toyota Hycross has sold 203,188 units.

The Maruti Invicto, spawned from the badge-engineering partnership between Toyota and Suzuki,

compares very poorly in terms of sales with the Toyota Innova Hycross which is now among Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s top-selling models along with the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

In the same fiscal period since the Invicto’s launch (FY2024 to FY2027: April-May 2026), the Innova Hycross has sold 203,188 units and contributed 25% to Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s total UV sales of 815,376 units since April 2023. Total Hycross sales since its November 2022 launch till end-May 2026 are 214,539 units.

Maruti Suzuki offers the Invicto with only a strong hybrid powertrain – a 2-litre petrol engine paired with an AC Synchronous Motor that generates a combined 186 hp and 206 Nm of torque. With an official mileage figure of 23.24kpl, the Invicto is among the most efficient MPVs and its real-world figures of 13.1kpl (city) and 16.1kpl (highway) are impressive.

The visual differences between the Invicto and the Toyota Hycross are subtle and the cabin feels familiar to the Hycross albeit Maruti’s black-and-champagne gold theme provides its own identity. Available in 7- and 8-seat layouts, the Invicto has plenty of space with the captain seats scoring really well for comfort. An omission, however, is a powered legrest that is part of the package on the Innova Hycross.

The Invicto feels smaller than it is, with light steering and a tight turning circle. The ride is absorbent and composed, though road noise is noticeable. Handling is tidy, but front-wheel drive and the monocoque structure mean the Invicto lacks the invincibility of rear drive and ladder-frame MPVs.

Available only in top Zeta+ and Alpha+ trims, the Invicto gets features like a powered driver’s seat with memory, ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control and a 360-degree camera. The 10.1-inch touchscreen feels dull, though Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported.
Six airbags, ESC, hill start assist and ISOFIX mounts are standard, but there’s no ADAS suite as on the Toyota Hycross.

When it comes to the value-for-money factor, Autocar India states in its Maruti Invicto model commentary:“The Invicto has the size, features, comfort and efficiency buyers want. It’s slightly cheaper than the Toyota Hycross but loses out on a few features. The bigger question is, will you be happy to spend Rs 30 lakh (on-road) on a Maruti?” This is probably the reason why the Invicto continues to be a low-in-volume sales provider to India’s No. 1 passenger and utility vehicle manufacturer.
