Magenta Mobility unveils ‘Project 302’ to decarbonise logistics in Bhiwandi

Magenta Mobility, an integrated electric mobility solutions provider, has launched ‘Project 302,’ aimed at decarbonising logistics in Bhiwandi, one of India’s largest warehousing hubs. Named after the Bhiwandi Pincode, the project features a new office and charging depot operating under a hub-and-spoke model.

This expansion aligns with Magenta Mobility's vision to decarbonise logistics and enhance services for existing and new customers in the region. The new Bhiwandi facility, which initially deploys a fleet of 500 electric vehicles (EVs) including three-wheelers and four-wheelers, aims to meet the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions. The company plans to hire around 200 local Delivery Executives (DEs) to operate these vehicles, supporting logistics, charging, and field operations.

Bhiwandi, with its extensive 25 million square feet of warehousing space, serves the growing demands of e-commerce and third-party logistics industries. Its strategic location, connectivity to major cities and ports, and proactive government support make it an ideal operational hub for Magenta Mobility, the company shared. The area hosts warehouses for e-commerce giants, pharma companies, FMCGs, retailers, and conglomerates, providing a prime location for expanding services.

Maxson Lewis, Founder and CEO of Magenta Mobility, commented, “Bhiwandi's strategic location and connectivity to key markets such as Mumbai and Thane, along with key ports, reduce travel distances and enable faster, more efficient deliveries. This expansion aligns with our sustainability goals and enhances our operational capabilities in Western India.”

The new office will adopt best sustainability practices, including utilising natural light to reduce electricity consumption, going paperless, and eliminating single-use plastic by providing reusable cups and recycled paper bags. Magenta Mobility has also partnered with an e-waste management company to reduce and recycle e-waste from its operations.

Expanding nationwide presence

With the addition of the Bhiwandi office, Magenta Mobility now operates 11 offices across 10 cities in India, including two offices in Mumbai and one in Pune. This expansion is part of the company's ambitious ‘Ab Ki Baar Dus Hazaar’ program, which aims to deploy 10,000 electric vehicles by September 2025. Currently, Magenta Mobility's fleet of over 2,000 vehicles has traveled 16 million clean kilometers across 17 cities, preventing 430 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
