Land Rover has announced two major special edition product launches for India — the Defender 110 Trophy Edition and the MY26 Discovery line-up that includes the Gemini and Tempest Editions.  Here’s all you need to know about them.

Defender 110 Trophy Edition launched at Rs 1.30 crore

Land Rover India has priced the Defender 110 Trophy Edition at Rs 1.30 crore (ex-showroom). The limited-run SUV pays homage to the legendary Camel Trophy off-road challenge — an event often described as the “Olympics of 4x4s” — which forged the brand’s identity through grueling global expeditions between 1980 and 2000. Power comes from a 3.0-litre, inline-six, twin-turbo diesel engine producing 350hp and 700Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and standard all-wheel drive. Land Rover claims a 0-100kph sprint of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 191kph.

The Discovery Trophy Edition can be had in two exclusive colours — Deep Sandglow Yellow and Keswick Green — both inspired by the original Sandglow hue of the Camel Trophy fleet. A contrasting black roof, bonnet, scuff plates, side cladding and wheel arches complete the rugged aesthetic, while special Trophy decals on the bonnet and C-pillar mark its exclusivity.

It rides on 20-inch gloss-black alloy wheels and can be equipped with expedition-ready accessories such as a roof rack, deployable ladder, panniers, snorkel, and matte protective film. Inside, the cabin features Ebony Windsor leather upholstery, Trophy-branded illuminated sill plates, and a colour-matched crossbeam with laser-etched endcaps — subtle cues that tie the interior to the vehicle’s adventurous roots.

Land Rover Discovery Gemini, Tempest Editions launched in India

Alongside the Defender special, Land Rover has revealed prices for the MY26 Discovery range, which now starts at Rs 1.26 crore and goes up to Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom). The line-up introduces two new trims — Gemini and Tempest Editions — while the outgoing Dynamic S and Metropolitan versions will be phased out in 2026.

Based on the full-size Land Rover Discovery SUV, the Tempest Edition brings minor but tasteful exterior enhancements, including 22-inch Petra Copper dual-tone alloy wheels, copper-finished roof and bonnet lettering, and a refreshed grille with Graphite Atlas gloss inserts. A distinctive puddle lamp projecting the Tempest symbol and silver-finished door sills add a bespoke touch. The interior offers three dual-tone themes — Ebony, Caraway, and Light Oyster — each paired with matching headliners for an upscale feel.

The Gemini Edition, meanwhile, is the entry point into the Discovery range. It features 21-inch silver alloys, a gloss-black roof, silver skid plates, and hexagonal motifs unique to the trim. Inside, buyers can choose between leatherette or fabric upholstery, with cabin themes ranging from Light Oyster to Ebony.

The Land Rover Discovery Gemini Edition and the Tempest edition share the same 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, turbocharged mild-hybrid diesel engine, delivering 350hp through a 9-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive.

Feature highlights on the Discovery Gemini Edition include a 12.3-inch digital cluster, 11.4-inch infotainment display, Meridian 12-speaker sound system, 360-degree camera, and three-zone climate control. The Discovery Tempest Edition upgrades this package with a head-up display, 14-speaker Meridian setup, four-zone climate, powered third-row seats, and a heated steering wheel.

JLR’s Cyberattack Fallout: A Controlled Comeback

The new launches come even as Jaguar Land Rover navigates a gradual return to normalcy after a major cyberattack in September forced a six-week shutdown of its key UK operations. The attack reportedly cost JLR up to £5 million per day, halting production across plants and impacting hundreds of suppliers. To mitigate losses, the UK government extended a £1.5-billion loan guarantee, while JLR rolled out emergency financing to its 700-plus UK suppliers employing nearly 150,000 people.

Production is now resuming in phases. The Wolverhampton engine facility and Coleshill battery assembly plant were the first to restart, followed by the Solihull site — home to the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.  Assembly lines for the Defender and Discovery in Nitra, Slovakia, are also gradually ramping up. JLR has said full recovery will take several weeks as it clears backlogs and recalibrates supply chains.
