JSW Energy begins construction for battery storage project: ANI

JSW Energy has begun construction work for its Battery Energy Storage Project, marking its entry into the energy storage services business, ANI reported.
A 1.0 GWh battery storage project was awarded by the Solar Energy Corporation of India, with commission expected by 2025, ANI noted citing an official press release. The project comprises two installations, with a 500 MWh storage capacity for each, and is designed for two hours of storage in one cycle.
The engineering work and ordering of equipment has been completed, with commissioning expected in the fourth quarter of 2024-25, ANI noted.
It has also been allotted a capacity of 6,800 tonne per annum, as part of SECI's program Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition.
JSW Energy and JSW Steel have also signed an MoU to supply additional 85,000 to 90,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per annum, alongside 720,000 tonnes of green oxygen per annum, progressively, by 2030.
