Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover has temporarily paused production on certain vehicle lines at its Solihull manufacturing facility in the UK due to a supply constraint from a supplier, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd said in a stock exchange filing.

Without disclosing the expected time period of the production pause, the company said the disruption is “short-term in nature and limited in scope.” The company noted that it is working closely with the supplier to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and minimise any impact on clients or operations.

The clarification came in response to a news report published on March 27 that said Jaguar Land Rover had halted output at its UK plant amid supplier disruption. The company said the production pause pertains specifically to the Solihull facility and affects only certain vehicle lines. 

At this stage, the company does not anticipate any material impact on its overall operations or financial performance as a result of the temporary disruption, Tata Motors said. 

Earlier, the Financial Times reported JLR will shut down the plant for nearly two weeks due to a fire at its supplier in Norway. The automaker reportedly told suppliers that it would pause production for its Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models until April 8, which includes the scheduled five-day shutdown for the Easter weekend.

“We have been in constant communication with the relevant supplier. All discussions around the supply chain issues were in the ordinary course of business,” Tata Motors said.

The automaker further stated that there is no sequence of events to be disclosed in relation to the supply chain issue, indicating that the matter is being managed through routine operational engagement with the supplier. 

The Solihull facility is one of JLR’s manufacturing sites, and the temporary pause on selected vehicle lines reflects a supply-side constraint rather than a broader operational shutdown, according to the company’s statement. 

This temporary shutdown comes after last year’s one-month shutdown following a cyber-attack that cost the company £260 million. JLR currently produces vehicles in the UK, Slovakia and China, and has assembly units in India and Brazil.
