JLR and Tata Communications expand partnership to enhance connected vehicle ecosystem

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced an expansion of its partnership with Tata Communications to strengthen its connected vehicle ecosystem. The collaboration aims to integrate Tata Communications' MOVETM platform, enabling continuous connectivity and advanced data-driven features across JLR’s next-generation vehicles in over 120 countries.

The enhanced partnership focuses on JLR’s medium-sized SUVs built on the new Electric Modular Architecture (EMA), set to launch in 2026. These vehicles will leverage the MOVETM platform to provide seamless transitions between mobile networks, ensuring uninterrupted access to personalized services such as media streaming. The platform will also enhance software over-the-air (SOTA) updates, secure data exchange, and the rollout of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

JLR’s connected vehicles currently generate 2.5 terabytes of data daily, with half a million electronic control units updated monthly. By utilizing Tata Communications’ technology, JLR aims to improve real-time monitoring of vehicle performance, deliver timely software updates, and reduce maintenance costs for vehicle owners.

The upcoming vehicles will feature robust wireless communication technologies for effective vehicle tracking, even in remote areas. Enhanced over-the-air software updates will improve diagnostics and functionality, while streamlined connectivity plans will ensure global access to applications and vehicle features through a single provider.

Marco Bijvelds, Vice President and Global Head of Tata Communications MOVETM, stated that the partnership would support JLR’s transition to software-defined vehicles. He emphasized the potential for delivering advanced driving features and personalized customer experiences, creating opportunities for new revenue streams.

Mark Brogden, Director of Digital Product Platform Off-Board at JLR, highlighted the partnership's significance, describing it as a key step in JLR’s digital transformation. Brogden noted that the collaboration would enable JLR to deliver secure and cost-effective connectivity solutions, aligning with customer expectations for its luxury vehicle lineup.

The integration of the MOVETM platform is part of JLR’s broader innovation strategy to establish universal connectivity and introduce AI-driven digital features in its vehicles, enhancing the overall driving experience for customers worldwide.
