Jeep plans to enter India’s pickup market with a D-segment offering, extending its local portfolio beyond SUVs as Toyota and Mahindra invest in the lifestyle pickup category.
The pickup forms part of a wider product expansion covering the B, C and D segments, Shailesh Hazela, managing director and CEO of Stellantis India, said in an interview.
“Jeep, there will be new product which will be coming from, I would say, B segment, C segment, D segment and D pickup. All those will be the new product,” Hazela said.
He did not identify the model or disclose its launch date, powertrain or manufacturing location. Whether the pickup will be imported or produced locally also remains undisclosed.
The announcement comes as India’s lifestyle pickup market grows from a small base. Toyota Hilux sales rose 23.9 percent to 3,751 units in FY2026, while combined Isuzu V-Cross and Hi-Lander sales declined to 303 units. Together, the three models sold 4,054 units, up about 20 percent from the previous year.
Manufacturers are adding products despite the modest volumes. Toyota launched the new Hilux in July 2026, while Mahindra has unveiled the Scorpio Lifestyler ahead of a planned India introduction by April 2027. Price, vehicle size and everyday practicality remain constraints on wider adoption.
Jeep’s existing Indian range comprises the Compass, Meridian, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. A pickup would give the brand an additional offering, although Hazela did not specify its customer positioning.
Asked whether every future Jeep product would offer at least one four-wheel-drive variant, Hazela said that would be the company’s effort, citing its importance to the brand. He stopped short of making a commitment across the range.
The pickup is included in Stellantis’ Fastlane 2030 expansion, backed by approximately Rs 4,000 crore in additional India investment. Seven new products and five refreshes are planned across Jeep and Citroen by 2030, with the first launch due in Q2 2027. The pickup’s place in that schedule has not been disclosed.
