JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina Collaborate on First-Generation NSX Revival
Italian motorsport specialist JAS Motorsport partners with legendary design house Pininfarina to create a carbon-bodied, high-performance derivative of the 1990s Honda NSX, marking the company's debut road car project.
JAS Motorsport has revealed new details about its first high-performance road car project, developed in partnership with renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina. The vehicle will reimagine the first-generation Honda NSX from the 1990s as a modern grand tourer.
The collaboration centers on creating an ultra-limited production run at JAS Motorsport's facility in Arluno, Milan. Each car will begin with an original 1990s NSX donor vehicle, which will be extensively modified with a completely new carbon fiber body designed by Pininfarina.
According to the announcement, the project aims to honor the original NSX's philosophy of balanced performance and driver engagement while incorporating contemporary materials and motorsport-derived engineering. The companies emphasized the car's dual nature as both a high-performance vehicle and a practical grand tourer.
Pininfarina's involvement extends beyond exterior styling to include interior redesign. The cockpit will reinterpret the original NSX layout while maintaining the model's driver-focused philosophy, which Honda described at the car's 1990 debut as creating "a direct connection with the driver and passenger."
The powertrain will feature a naturally-aspirated V6 engine inspired by the original NSX, engineered to deliver enhanced power, torque, and throttle response. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard, emphasizing driving engagement over automation.
Both left-hand and right-hand drive configurations will be available. The development prototype is currently being prepared for its body installation, with the companies working on schedule toward completion.
The project remains unnamed, with JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina planning to reveal additional details progressively. The first public presentation of the completed vehicle is scheduled for the first half of 2026.
JAS Motorsport, known primarily for its racing programs including TCR and GT championships, positions this project as a bridge between its motorsport expertise and road car development. Pininfarina brings its decades of automotive design experience to the collaboration, having styled numerous iconic vehicles throughout its history.
The announcement comes as interest in first-generation NSX models continues to grow among collectors and enthusiasts, with original examples commanding increasing values in the collector car market.
