INOX India Limited has become the first Indian cryogenic equipment manufacturer to receive IATF 16949 certification for cryogenic fuel tank manufacturing, as announced on February 24, 2025. The certification, issued by Bureau Veritas Certification, covers both design and manufacturing of vacuum insulated cryogenic fuel tanks at the company's Kalol facility in Gujarat.
The IATF 16949 certification, which is mandatory for automotive OEM suppliers, positions INOX India to enter both domestic and global markets for heavy-duty vehicle fuel tanks. The certification is based on ISO 9001 standards and is specific to the automotive industry's requirements.
Deepak Acharya, Chief Executive Officer of INOX India, emphasized that the certification reflects the company's ability to meet growing demand for alternative fuel solutions, particularly in LNG-powered vehicles. The certification process involved a comprehensive audit with no exclusions in the design and manufacturing processes.
INOX India, known as INOXCVA, has established itself as a significant player in cryogenic technology solutions globally. The certification strengthens its position as a qualified supplier to automotive OEMs at a time when the industry is transitioning toward greener transport fuels.
The automotive industry has been increasingly focusing on alternative fuel solutions, with LNG emerging as a viable option for heavy-duty vehicles. The IATF certification system helps maintain quality standards across complex global supply chains, ensuring consistent product quality and reliability.
