SKF India Posts Rs 52 Crore Q2 Profit, Approves Rs 140 Crore Manufacturing Expansion
The bearings manufacturer announces Rs 140 crore manufacturing expansion across Pune and Haridwar.
SKF India posted an 80 percent year-on-year growth in standalone net profit after tax from continuing operations to Rs 51.70 crore for Q2 FY27, up from Rs 28.72 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Sequentially, net profit declined 16.4 percent from Rs 61.84 crore recorded in Q1 FY27. On a consolidated basis, net profit after tax for the quarter stood at Rs 51.81 crore. The year-on-year earnings growth from continuing operations was propelled by higher domestic operational revenues, though sequential profitability was moderated by rising material and operating expenses.
Standalone revenue from operations during Q2 FY27 reached Rs 595.81 crore, reflecting a 20.1 percent increase year-on-year compared to Rs 495.91 crore in Q2 FY26, and a 1.4 percent rise sequentially over Rs 587.79 crore in Q1 FY27.
Total expenses grew 22.5 percent year-on-year to Rs 555.09 crore against Rs 453.27 crore in the year-ago quarter, driven by a cost of materials consumed of Rs 237.26 crore, stock-in-trade purchases of Rs 130.25 crore, and other expenses of Rs 164.30 crore. Sequentially, total expenses increased 7.5 percent from Rs 516.38 crore in Q1 FY27.
Auditors noted that total net profit for the comparative prior-year period Q2 FY26 stood at Rs 105.65 crore, which included Rs 76.93 crore from discontinued operations prior to the demerger of the company's industrial undertaking into SKF India (Industrial) Limited, effective October 1, 2025. Consequently, financial results for the prior periods have been re-presented to reflect continuing operations separately.
Alongside its financial results, the board approved a total capital expenditure of Rs 140.40 crore to expand manufacturing capacity across its plant facilities.
The company will invest Rs 62.60 crore to add two deep groove ball bearing channels at its Haridwar plant, with production commencing in phases between December 2026 and March 2027.
Additionally, it will deploy Rs 77.80 crore to add two tapered roller bearing channels at its Pune manufacturing facility, with production scheduled to begin between March 2027 and July 2027 to meet demand and reduce reliance on imported trading volumes.
