Starting in April 2026, India will mandate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in new vehicles carrying more than eight passengers, including buses and trucks. This requirement, which extends to existing models by October 2026, includes Advanced Emergency Braking Systems, Driver Drowsiness Warning Systems, and Lane Departure Warning Systems—features commonly integrated into modern dashcams.
This regulatory framework is expected to substantially boost dashcam adoption in the commercial vehicle segment, where companies are already embracing these technologies for fleet management and operational efficiency. The mandate reflects the government's broader commitment to promoting road safety and smart mobility infrastructure across the country.
Insurance companies are also contributing to adoption rates by offering discounts to vehicle owners who install dashcams, recognizing their value in accident investigation and fraud prevention. This financial incentive, combined with decreasing device prices and increasing availability of affordable models, is making dashcams accessible to a broader audience.
Geographically, Northern and Western India currently dominate the dashcam market, though Southern and Eastern regions are expected to drive future growth due to increasing awareness and improved e-commerce accessibility. The proliferation of online shopping platforms and growing internet penetration are facilitating wider distribution, making these devices more accessible across diverse markets.
