Hyundai Motor India Foundation completed the plantation of 1 million trees across 90.5 acres near Talegaon, Pune, within one year under its IONIQ Forest initiative. The project, which began with ground clearance in May 2025, used the Miyawaki method to plant 41 native tree species. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the forest in September 2025. Each tree has been geo-tagged with a QR code for transparency and real-time monitoring.

The forest is projected to absorb 63,000 tons of CO₂ over the next five years while enhancing biodiversity and climate resilience. The initiative has created sustainable livelihoods for over 150 members of the native tribal community, combining ecological restoration with social inclusion.

Puneet Anand, AVP & Vertical Head - Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication & Social, HMIL, said, "Hyundai Motor India Foundation's IONIQ Forest project is more than an afforestation effort, it represents a vision to create a greener and more sustainable future. By combining environmental restoration with community empowerment, Hyundai is setting a benchmark for sustainable growth in India. What makes this achievement truly significant is the successful plantation of 1 million trees within a quick span of less than a year at one contiguous location, reinforcing Hyundai's commitment to environmental stewardship, climate action and responsible growth, as it expands its footprint in Maharashtra."

The plantation drive was launched on World Environment Day, June 5, 2025. The forest will serve as a learning space for schools and local communities once fully established, promoting environmental awareness among future generations.

The project is part of Hyundai Motor India Foundation's ₹56 crore CSR investment in Maharashtra covering environment, healthcare, road safety, and community development initiatives. HMIF is the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited.
