Greaves Electric Mobility’s Aero Vision concept has been selected among the Top 50 Designs in the Mobility Design category at the 14th CII Design Excellence Awards 2024.
Developed with references to the Arctic Tern, Indian space technology, science fiction themes, and traditional Indian architecture, the Aero Vision concept is part of the company’s efforts to design sustainable and cost-effective 3-wheeler mobility solutions. The concept aligns with a ‘Designed in India’ philosophy, aiming to address evolving needs in electric mobility.
Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton Limited (GCL), is engaged in the electric vehicle (EV) sector in India. With more than 16 years of experience in the field, the company focuses on developing electric mobility solutions intended to be accessible and sustainable for various segments of Indian consumers.
GEMPL offers electric two-wheelers under the 'Ampere' brand and electric three-wheelers through subsidiaries such as MLR Auto Limited and Bestway Agencies Private Limited. The two-wheeler range targets individual and business users, while the electric three-wheelers are mainly used for last-mile passenger and cargo transport. These products have reached over 3 lakh users across the country.
In support of domestic manufacturing and supply chains, the company set up a 35-acre electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Ranipet, Tamil Nadu, which began operations in 2021. The facility currently has a production capacity of 120,000 units per year, with provisions for future expansion. A significant proportion of the workforce at the facility consists of women employees.
Greaves Electric Mobility has introduced various models to expand its EV portfolio. One of these is the Ampere Nexus, a high-performance electric scooter intended for family use. The scooter was also part of a campaign covering over 10,000 km from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Additionally, the company introduced the Greaves ELTRA City, an electric passenger auto designed with features such as extended range and digital controls.
Through its network that includes manufacturing, retail, and financing services, GEMPL aims to support the adoption of electric vehicles in India. The company continues to focus on product development and infrastructure to serve the evolving needs of the EV market in the country.
