Daimler India Signs Agreement with Union Ministry for Delhi-NCR Fleet Replacement Scheme
Commercial vehicle manufacturer to offer eight percent discount on new trucks and buses under government-backed vehicle replacement program.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to participate in the central government's fleet modernization program in the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR). Under the terms of the agreement, the company will offer an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible BharatBenz trucks and buses purchased to replace older assets under the scheme.
The vehicle replacement initiative, approved by the Union Cabinet, is funded through the National Capital Region Planning Board (NCRPB) under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). Implementation responsibilities are shared between MoRTH and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). The program targets the replacement of older commercial vehicles with BS-VI compliant models, cleaner fuel variants, or electric vehicles to lower vehicular emissions across the metropolitan region.
Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and Chief Business Officer of DICV, stated that the initiative serves as a structural step toward accelerating fleet renewal and lowering regional emissions. He noted that the manufacturer expects to support operators updating their fleets with BS-VI compliant models to improve operational and fuel efficiency.
DICV joins other major commercial vehicle manufacturers to sign an agreement with the centre for the replacement program, after Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors CV and SML Mahindra all signed MoU's with the centre earlier in June.
