Gentari and Shell India Form EV Charging Partnership
Companies combine networks to provide access to over 450 charging points across India.
Clean energy solutions company Gentari and Shell India announced a strategic roaming partnership on July 10, 2025, to expand electric vehicle charging accessibility across India by integrating their respective charging networks.
The collaboration allows Shell Recharge charging points to be accessible through the Gentari Go app, while Gentari chargers become available to Shell Recharge users. The partnership creates a combined network of more than 450 charging points across the country, effective immediately.
Under the agreement, EV users can access charging infrastructure from both companies through either platform. Gentari Go currently provides access to over 5,000 charging points across India, Malaysia, and Thailand, with more than 3,000 charging points in India alone.
The partnership focuses on enhancing connectivity in western and southern India, targeting high-demand urban centers. Shell's charging infrastructure is located at fuel stations that offer additional amenities including food, beverages, and convenience stores.
"This partnership marks a meaningful step in expanding access to integrated and dependable EV charging for our users. By combining Gentari's scalable, technology-led solutions with Shell's premium locations, we are strengthening our commitment to building efficient, user-centric infrastructure that supports India's shift toward low-carbon mobility," said Nikhil Thomas, CEO of Gentari Green Mobility India.
The integration provides real-time charger availability and specifications through the Gentari Go app. Shell chargers integrated into the network are compatible with all EV types and positioned at Shell fuel stations.
"Our partnership with Gentari is a meaningful step towards enabling a seamless and accessible EV transition for our customers. It ensures interoperability, allowing customers to enjoy our ultra-fast, reliable charging at Shell fuel stations, as well as providing convenient access to Gentari's wide network across cities. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to delivering everyday convenience and enabling customers to confidently adopt electric mobility," said Sanjay Varkey, Director, Shell Mobility India.
The partnership supports both companies' objectives to accelerate EV adoption in India's electric mobility sector. Gentari operates as a clean energy solutions provider with core business pillars in renewable energy, hydrogen, and green mobility. The company aims to become Asia Pacific's leading green mobility solutions partner.
Shell India's charging infrastructure forms part of the company's broader mobility strategy in the Indian market. The collaboration represents an expansion of interoperability between charging networks as India's EV market continues to develop.
