Force Motors Lands Major Defence Contract for Nearly 3,000 Vehicles

Force Motors Limited has secured a landmark contract with the Indian Defence Forces to supply 2,978 Force Gurkha light vehicles, marking a significant milestone for the automotive manufacturer and reinforcing its strategic importance in India's defence logistics.

The contract, awarded by the Directorate General of Capb, Devp (CD-13/14) General Staff Branch, represents a substantial vote of confidence in Force Motors' vehicle capabilities, particularly its renowned Gurkha Light Strike Vehicle (LSV).

The Force Gurkha vehicles, specifically the GS 4X4 800 kg Soft Top model, have been engineered to meet the rigorous demands of military operations. These vehicles are designed to excel in extreme environments with capabilities that set them apart from conventional military transport options.

The Gurkha offers exceptional ground clearance that allows it to navigate challenging terrains with ease. Its water wading capacity is the highest in its class, enabling the vehicle to traverse difficult water crossings that would stop other vehicles in their tracks. The advanced 4x4 capabilities ensure that the vehicle can maintain mobility in diverse and challenging landscapes. Moreover, the robust build of the Gurkha makes it particularly suitable for operations across varied terrains, from scorching deserts to treacherous mountainous regions.

The contract will be executed in multiple tranches, with the entire order to be completed within a maximum of three years. This phased approach allows for systematic deployment and integration of the vehicles across different defence units, ensuring a smooth and strategic rollout of the new fleet.

Founded in 1958, Force Motors has evolved from a transportation solutions provider to a comprehensive automotive engineering company. With five manufacturing units across India and over 10,000 employees, the company has established strong partnerships with global automotive leaders like Mercedes-Benz and BMW. These partnerships underscore Force Motors' technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities, which have been crucial in winning significant contracts like the current defence order.

The defence contract further solidifies Force Motors' position as a key contributor to India's defence infrastructure and technological self-reliance.
