FASTag Annual Pass Records 2.5 Million Users Since August Launch
The highway payment initiative has recorded 5.67 crore transactions since its August launch, offering travelers a one-time fee option of Rs. 3,000 for streamlined toll payments across 1,150 plazas nationwide.
The FASTag Annual Pass has surpassed 2.5 million users within two months of its launch, according to data released by the Press Information Bureau. The program has processed approximately 56.7 million transactions across the country since its introduction on August 15, 2025.
The annual pass system allows users to pay a single fee of Rs. 3,000 for either one year of validity or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first. The initiative aims to reduce the frequency of FASTag recharges for regular highway users.
The pass covers approximately 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and National Expressways throughout India. It is available for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag. Activation occurs within two hours of payment through either the Rajmargyatra App or the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) website.
The annual pass is linked to a specific vehicle and cannot be transferred. While it functions at National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas, users must rely on their existing FASTag wallet balance for payments at State Highway tolls, expressways managed by state governments or local bodies, and parking facilities.
NHAI officials stated that the adoption rate reflects the authority's focus on improving travel efficiency on National Highways. The pass eliminates transaction delays associated with frequent recharging, particularly benefiting commuters who regularly use toll roads for work or personal travel.
The program represents part of broader digital payment integration efforts within India's highway infrastructure system, building on the mandatory FASTag implementation that began in previous years.
