Daimler Truck Appoints Raghavendra Vaidya as New Chief Information Officer
Vaidya, currently leading Daimler Truck Innovation Center India, will succeed Marcus Claesson effective June 1, 2025.
Raghavendra Vaidya has been appointed as the new Chief Information Officer of Daimler Truck, effective June 1, 2025. The announcement was made today in India, where Vaidya currently serves as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI). He will replace Marcus Claesson, who is leaving the company of his own accord to pursue other opportunities.
In his new role, Vaidya will oversee the company's entire IT operations and continue the digital transformation initiatives established by his predecessor. His appointment comes after more than 25 years of experience in various IT positions, including his most recent leadership of DTICI in Bangalore.
"We are excited to welcome Raghavendra Vaidya to our Executive Team," says Andreas Gorbach, Member of the Board of Management for Truck Technology. "In his previous role Raghavendra has built, strengthened, and sharpened the Daimler Truck Innovation Center India (DTICI) in Bangalore into an integral part of Daimler Truck for central functions, engineering and IT. With a career spanning over 25 years in various IT positions he brings a wealth of experience and know-how, strategic vision and leadership to his new role to lead our company into a rapidly evolving data-driven future."
Vaidya joined former Daimler AG in 2016 as Senior Vice President-IT at Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India after holding leadership positions at General Electric. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore, and a Master of Technology degree in Software Systems from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.
The outgoing CIO, Marcus Claesson, established Daimler Truck's standalone IT infrastructure following its separation from Daimler AG and led vehicle connectivity initiatives that connected over one million vehicles across all brands worldwide.
Regarding Claesson's departure, Gorbach stated, "I would like to thank Marcus for his contribution establishing our new IT set-up following the spin-off from the former Daimler AG. Marcus has managed an Herculean task to set up a stand-alone IT, including major transformational moves and led vehicle connectivity across all brands worldwide, surpassing the milestone of more than 1 million connected vehicles. We wish Marcus all the best for his future, and we are convinced that Raghavendra will build on this strong foundation."
The company has indicated that Vaidya's successor at DTICI will be announced in due course.
