Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of introducing “next-generation” GST reforms by Diwali, calling it a potential boost for the commercial vehicle industry. The company said a simplified and restructured GST regime, particularly with reduced tax rates, would lower operating costs across the value chain and improve affordability for customers.
According to Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO of DICV, the proposed changes are expected to benefit fleet operators, suppliers, and OEMs, stimulating demand and accelerating economic activity. He noted that the reforms could strengthen the company’s capacity to invest in advanced, efficient technologies, create more local jobs, and enhance India’s role as a global manufacturing hub.
Arya said DICV’s focus aligns with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, which seeks to make India self-reliant through domestic manufacturing, innovation, and reduced import dependence. The initiative emphasises building competitive capabilities within the country, enabling Indian-made products to meet both domestic needs and global demand.
Arya added that DICV continues to design, manufacture, and export trucks and buses from its Oragadam facility with a high level of local content.
