ChargeZone Plans 1,000 Franchise Supercharging Stations Across Indian Highways by FY2027
The Vadodara-based EV charging network will deploy its DOCO franchise model along major national highway corridors, backed by SBI financing and renewable energy integration.
ChargeZone, described as India's largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network, announced on Tuesday that it plans to deploy more than 1,000 supercharging stations under a Dealer Owned, Company Operated (DOCO) franchise model across key national highway corridors by the end of FY2027. The rollout is positioned as the largest franchise-based EV charging expansion in India to date.
The company stated that the initiative is aligned with the Government of India's PM E-Drive programme, which has earmarked ₹2,000 crore for charging infrastructure as part of the country's broader target of 30 percent EV electrification by 2030. Highway corridors already covered by ChargeZone's existing network include Delhi–Mumbai, Bengaluru–Hyderabad, Mumbai–Hyderabad, Delhi–Chandigarh, Bengaluru–Chennai, Vizag–Chennai, and Mumbai–Bengaluru, with the new rollout set to extend this coverage further.
Under the DOCO model, landowners, entrepreneurs, businesses, and institutions can invest in supercharging stations starting from INR 1 crore, while ChargeZone retains responsibility for development, commissioning, and day-to-day operations. The company said this approach is intended to broaden participation in EV infrastructure investment while maintaining consistent network standards.
To facilitate investment, ChargeZone has entered into a financing partnership with the State Bank of India (SBI) under the EV Mitra scheme. Eligible investors can access loans between ₹10 lakh and ₹10 crore, with repayment periods of up to seven years. The scheme also provides access to support under the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), alongside full and partial co-investment options.
The rollout will be supported by ChargeZone's Project E-DHARA (Electrifying and Decarbonizing Highways through Accelerated Renewable Adoption), which integrates solar power and battery energy storage systems (BESS) with the charging infrastructure. The company stated that this combination is designed to ensure 100 percent uptime at each station by reducing dependence on grid reliability. Charging capacities at stations will range from 500 kW to 1.5 MW, accommodating both personal EV owners and commercial fleet operators.
ChargeZone noted that its network is supported by collaborations with a range of automotive OEMs, including Tata.ev, Volvo, Hyundai, VinFast, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and Maruti Suzuki, intended to ensure compatibility across a broad spectrum of EV models in both personal and commercial segments. The company currently operates over 15,000 charging points at more than 1,200 locations across India and the UAE.
