CEAT Limited, an Indian tyre manufacturer, has launched SecuraDrive CIRCL, claimed to be India’s first road-ready passenger car tyre made with up to 90% sustainable, bio-based materials. The product is positioned as a step forward in sustainable mobility solutions for the automotive industry.

The SecuraDrive CIRCL tyre is available in two variants—one with 50% bio-based content and another with 90%—and was developed at CEAT’s Halol-based R&D facility. According to the company, the tyre meets standard performance, safety, and durability requirements without compromising on quality, targeting environmentally conscious urban consumers aged 25 to 45, particularly in Tier 1 cities.

The launch aligns with CEAT’s broader strategy focused on innovation and sustainability. The company has previously introduced technologies such as CALM (for noise reduction), ZR-rated tyres, and Run-Flat tyres. SecuraDrive CIRCL represents the latest addition to its portfolio of advanced mobility solutions.

According to Arnab Banerjee, Managing Director and CEO of CEAT Ltd., the development of a high-sustainability-content tyre that is fully road-ready marks a significant technological achievement. He stated that the product reflects India’s growing capability in sustainable manufacturing and supports the transition toward greener transportation.

Lakshmi Narayanan B., Chief Marketing Officer at CEAT, noted that consumer demand for sustainable products is rising, particularly among middle- to upper-income urban demographics. He added that SecuraDrive CIRCL aims to meet this demand by offering a tyre that balances environmental considerations with performance and safety.

The tyre incorporates several key technological innovations developed by CEAT. It features a Unified Biopolymer Inner Liner, a material design intended to reduce complexity in manufacturing and lower emissions. It also uses a Glycerol-Based Accelerator, which replaces petroleum-derived chemicals with a bio-based alternative in the vulcanization process. Additionally, the tyre includes an Anti-Static Silica Conductive Solution, a carbon-black-free formulation that maintains electrical conductivity to ensure static dissipation and passenger safety.

These features collectively contribute to the tyre’s high proportion of sustainable materials while maintaining functional performance.

CEAT stated that the SecuraDrive CIRCL is part of its ongoing efforts to integrate sustainability across its value chain, including sourcing eco-friendly raw materials and advancing circular economy practices such as end-of-life tyre recycling.

The tyres are scheduled to be available from September 2025 through CEAT’s premium retail outlets and authorized dealerships. Pricing is set at Rs 12,999 for the 90% sustainable variant and Rs 8,999 for the 50% variant.

No third-party verification of the sustainability claims was provided in the company’s release. The market response and long-term performance of the tyre will be observed as it becomes commercially available.
