BMW Motorrad India has sold 1,000 units of its BMW S 1000 RR performance motorcycle in the Indian market, marking a significant milestone for the German manufacturer's premium sports bike segment in the country.
The company handed over the 1,000th unit to Varun Yadav from Delhi during a ceremony attended by BMW Motorrad India Director Shardenduu Chaturvedi and Manish Gupta, Dealer Principal of Lutyens Motorrad. The event included participation from the BMW Motorrad India riding community along with friends and family members.
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, described the S 1000 RR as "a symbol of precision engineering and absolute performance." He noted that the milestone demonstrates the motorcycle's popularity among Indian riders who seek high-performance vehicles for both road and track use.
The BMW S 1000 RR has established itself as a popular choice among motorcycling enthusiasts in India since its introduction to the market. The motorcycle targets riders who prioritize performance capabilities and racing-oriented features.
BMW launched the updated S 1000 RR model in India at Auto Expo 2025. The new version features design modifications aimed at improving track performance, including a compact layout and aerodynamic enhancements. The motorcycle incorporates side winglets, a high windscreen, and brake cooling ducts around the front wheel area to optimize airflow and maintain speed.
The updated model includes an M short-stroke throttle system designed to provide smoother throttle control without requiring hand repositioning. The motorcycle is powered by a 999cc inline-four engine equipped with BMW ShiftCam Technology, producing 210 horsepower at 13,750 rpm with a maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm.
The engine features variable intake funnels in the airbox, similar to those found on the M RR variant, which are designed to optimize power generation at high engine speeds. These technical specifications position the S 1000 RR within BMW's performance motorcycle lineup for track and road applications.
BMW Motorrad continues to expand its presence in the Indian premium motorcycle market, where demand for high-performance bikes has grown among urban consumers with disposable income. The company operates through a network of authorized dealers across major Indian cities to serve customers in this segment.
