BMW launches S 1000 XR at Rs 22.50 lakh

BMW has launched the all-new S 1000 XR to replace the model launched in 2020. The S 1000 XR’s design, performance and features have been updated, and these motorcycles will be imported as completely built units.

BMW S 1000 XR price, launch details

The S 1000 XR shares its motor with the iconic S 1000 RR. BMW claims that it has reworked the in-line 4-cylinder unit, which now produces 170hp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm at 9,250rpm — 5hp more than the outgoing model’s engine.

The German manufacturer has also claimed that the S 1000 XR can reach 0-100kph in 3.25 seconds and achieve a top speed of 253kph. In terms of design, BMW has replaced the black beak fender with one that’s body-coloured. The rear section features new side panels and air intakes that, according to BMW, take inspiration from motorsport.

The seat has been completely redesigned to make the bike better suited for track riding and touring; it is 850mm high now and can be lowered.

The new S 1000 XR can be had with additional equipment, depending on the package chosen (Touring, Dynamics, or M). It is worth mentioning that the Touring and Dynamics packages are standard. The Touring package includes a luggage carrier, a centre stand, a slot for the navigation device, hand protection, a tyre-pressure monitoring system and heated grips. The Dynamics package offers dynamic ESA pro, shift assistant pro and cruise control.

The M package comprises the M Sport seat for optimum support, M Endurance chain, M GPS-Laptrigger, sports silencer, tinted windscreen, a black fuel filler cap, M lightweight battery, M forged wheels, or optionally, M Carbon wheels. The M package is the only package with the M Sport-themed white colour. It is also worth mentioning that this package will cost Rs 2.50 lakh over the standard price.

The all-new S 1000 XR is priced at Rs 22.50 lakh (ex-showroom India), which is Rs 40,000 more than the model it replaces. The BMW S 1000 XR will rival the likes of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak and the Ducati Multistrada V4 RS, which is yet to launch in India.
