Bike Taxi Association opens first community support office in Bengaluru
The Bike Taxi Association’s new office aims to improve working conditions for over 3,800 riders, offering training, and financial literacy programs
Initially formed as an informal group advocating for fair treatment and recognition, the BTA now offers members a centralised space to discuss and address their needs. The new office will function as a hub for community support, skill-building, and advocacy, offering resources to improve working conditions and support professional development.
At the opening, Adi Narayana, President of the BTA, noted that the office serves as a significant step forward in enhancing work conditions and community support for riders. The association plans to offer training, financial literacy sessions, and events to strengthen members’ skills and economic stability. BTA will also work with local leaders and policymakers to advocate for policies that support a fair, regulated framework for bike taxis, enhancing the sector’s role as a mobility solution in the state.
The Bike Taxi Association (BTA) in India provides a range of services to support and improve the working conditions of bike taxi riders across the country. As bike taxis grow in popularity, the BTA works to establish a structured framework that promotes fair treatment, safety, and better work environments for riders. These services include advocacy for regulatory policies, skill development programs, and awareness campaigns aimed at promoting social acceptance and inclusivity for bike taxi operators.
The association plays a significant role in helping riders access resources for financial literacy, safety training, and community engagement. BTA also serves as a representative body, giving riders a unified voice in discussions with policymakers and local authorities to develop clear, equitable guidelines for the sector. With the rapid expansion of bike taxis as an affordable and efficient mode of urban transport, BTA’s support helps ensure that riders operate within a regulated, secure framework.
BTA’s community-building initiatives foster a sense of shared purpose among members, and through regular programs, they address riders' needs while promoting the bike taxi sector’s role in sustainable, last-mile connectivity. The association’s services ultimately aim to strengthen the sector’s foundation, creating a well-organised and supportive environment for bike taxi riders across India.
