Bajaj Auto Limited reported a modest 1% year-on-year growth in total sales for March 2025, with overall volumes reaching 369,823 units compared to 365,904 units in the same month last year, according to figures released on April 3.

The company's export momentum continued in March, though at a more tempered pace than February, with overseas shipments increasing by 2% to 148,349 units against 145,511 units in March 2024. Meanwhile, domestic sales remained essentially flat with a negligible increase to 221,474 units from 220,393 units.

Two-wheeler exports, which had outpaced domestic sales in February, returned to a more traditional pattern in March. The company shipped 132,073 two-wheelers internationally (up 1%) while selling 183,659 units domestically (an increase of just 0.4%).

Commercial vehicle exports showed particularly strong performance, rising 11% to 16,276 units compared to 14,630 units in March 2024, while domestic commercial vehicle sales increased by 1% to 37,815 units.

The March figures represent a normalization after February's unusual sales distribution, when Bajaj Auto exported more two-wheelers (153,000 units) than it sold domestically (146,000 units) – a rare occurrence for an Indian automotive manufacturer.

For the full fiscal year ending March 2025, Bajaj Auto recorded a 7% growth in total sales to 4,650,966 units compared to 4,350,933 units in the previous year. This growth was primarily driven by exports, which surged 14% to 1,863,281 units, while domestic sales increased by a more modest 3% to 2,787,685 units.

The annual figures confirm the continuing shift in Bajaj's sales composition, with exports now accounting for approximately 40% of the company's total volume, up from 37% in the previous fiscal year. Two-wheeler exports showed particularly strong growth of 13% for the year, reaching 1,674,060 units.

Commercial vehicle exports also performed exceptionally well, with a 19% increase to 189,221 units for the full year, underscoring the company's strengthening position in international markets.

The continued growth in Bajaj Auto's export volumes reflects the company's strategic focus on expanding its global footprint, even as it maintains its position in the competitive domestic market.
