Ashok Leyland has not yet announced the launch date of the electric Dost, but it is expected to be launched later this year.
The company has already started holding discussions with many logistics and e-commerce players, and is confident that the demand for its electric LCVs will be significant. The electric Dost and Bada Dost will be manufactured under the Switch brand, Ashok Leyland's electric vehicle subsidiary.
The Dost is a popular LCV in India, and the electric version is expected to be a hit with customers looking for a zero-emission vehicle for last-mile delivery. The Bada Dost is a larger LCV that is also expected to be in high demand, especially from e-commerce players. Ashok Leyland is confident that its electric LCVs will be able to compete with Tata Motors' ACE EV, the only other electric LCV that is currently available in the Indian market. The company is also betting big on the future of electric vehicles, and is investing heavily in R&D for new alternative fuel-run products.
The launch of the electric Dost is also seen as a sign of the growing demand for electric vehicles in India. The Indian government is providing incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles, and the number of electric vehicles on Indian roads is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years.
