Ashok Leyland flags off first e-Trucks to Billion Electric Mobility

Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has commenced the delivery of its electric trucks to Billion Electric Mobility, a member of the BillionE Group. The delivery includes models such as the AVTR 55T Electric, BOSS 19T Electric, and BOSS 14T Electric trucks.

The flag-off ceremony took place in the presence of senior executives from both companies, including Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, and Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of Billion E-Mobility and ChargeZone. Ashok Leyland has received a substantial order of 180 electric vehicles from BillionE Group, encompassing the BOSS Electric Truck and AVTR 55T Electric Tractor.

Shenu Agarwal highlighted the company's commitment to green mobility, noting that both the BOSS and AVTR electric platforms are equipped with advanced features to enhance performance and lower total cost of ownership. He also mentioned that the BOSS Electric is the first electric truck in India's intermediate commercial vehicle (ICV) range, while the AVTR 55T Electric Tractor is the first 4x2 electric tractor to be commercially offered by an Indian commercial vehicle manufacturer.

Kartikey Hariyani of Billion E-Mobility expressed appreciation for the delivery of the electric vehicles, which he said would help advance the company’s goal of creating a sustainable and efficient mid-mile electric truck platform.

The vehicles delivered by Ashok Leyland are designed to offer enhanced performance, safety, and efficiency. Key features include battery packs positioned for compatibility with commonly used trailers, IP67 protection against water and dust, and Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) for improved safety. Additionally, the trucks support dual-gun charging for faster recharging and are equipped with the widely used Common Charging Standard 2 (CCS2).

This milestone marks a step forward in Ashok Leyland's efforts to promote eco-friendly commercial transportation, contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions in India’s transport sector.
