The Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), in collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has announced the fourth edition of the National Automobile Olympiad (NAO) 2025. The initiative is open to students from Classes 6 to 12 across all educational boards and aims to introduce young learners to emerging automotive technologies.
The theme for this year’s Olympiad is The Future of Mobility: Electric, Connected, and Autonomous. The objective is to raise awareness and interest among school students about advancements in mobility and manufacturing. The Olympiad will highlight areas such as mechatronics, robotics, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and sustainable mobility.
Speaking at the launch, ASDC President F.R. Singhvi stated that NAO 2025 is intended to help students explore potential career paths in evolving sectors of the automotive industry. He emphasized that the Olympiad plays a key role in aligning education with the industry's shift toward advanced and sustainable technologies.
ASDC Vice President Vinkesh Gulati noted that the Olympiad is structured to support students in making informed career choices. He highlighted the alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), which promotes interdisciplinary learning and real-world skill development. The competition is inclusive, with participation available in both English and Hindi.
NAO 2025 follows a three-tier model. Group 1 consists of students from Classes VI to VIII, Group 2 includes Classes IX and X, and Group 3 is for Classes XI and XII. Registrations are open until July 31, 2025. Regional rounds will take place between October and November, with the national finals scheduled for December.
CBSE-affiliated schools are encouraged to take part, in line with the Board's emphasis on holistic and skill-based education. The initiative supports ASDC’s broader goal of bridging academic learning with industry requirements.
ASDC is India’s first sector skill council dedicated to the automobile industry. It is promoted by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), and Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), and is supported by multiple ministries and national agencies including MHI, MoRTH, MSDE, NCVET, and NSDC.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) operates under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It oversees public and private schools nationwide, promoting standardized academic practices and a focus on holistic student development.
