The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) has announced it will host the 19th edition of its Symposium of International Automotive Technology (SIAT) from January 28-30, 2026, at the Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre (PIECC).
The event, which runs biennially, will center on the theme "Innovative Pathways for Safe and Sustainable Mobility." ARAI reports receiving more than 2,000 abstracts from the research community for the upcoming symposium.
SIAT 2026 will feature technical presentations covering electric mobility, simulation and modeling, emission measurement and control technology, advanced vehicle dynamics, and active and passive safety systems. Additional topics include noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), hydrogen fuel cell and hydrogen internal combustion engines, testing and evaluation, structural reliability, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), alternative fuels, intelligent transport systems and regulation, tire technology, and materials and manufacturing.
The concurrent SIAT Expo 2026 will provide a platform for automotive industry companies to display their products, technologies, and services through exhibition stalls.
The 2024 edition of SIAT attracted more than 2,000 delegates and featured 211 presentations from 10 countries. The event included a hydrogen pavilion and ADAS demonstration area, with a technology demonstration area housing 330 stalls from countries including India, the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Germany, Austria, France, and Finland. More than 7,000 visitors attended the exhibition area. A dedicated pavilion for small and medium companies and startups accommodated more than 70 companies.
SIAT began in 1985 and has completed 18 editions. Past participants have included former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and automotive industry leaders such as Dr. Pawan Goenka. The Ministry of Heavy Industries and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways support the event, with discussions contributing to policy formation inputs.
ARAI operates as a cooperative industrial research association under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India. The organization provides technical expertise in research and development, testing, certification, homologation, and vehicular regulation development. ARAI focuses on ensuring vehicle safety, reducing pollution, and improving efficiency in the automotive sector.
