Weiss inaugurates new campus in Pune

New campus in Chakan houses Weiss Asia Pacific regional HQ, India Sales Office, the Engineering Knowledge Centre, Weiss Solution Factory, Global Sourcing and Global Technical Development Centre under one roof.

Weiss Automation Solutions, a global manufacturer of industrial rotary and linear movements in automation, inaugurated its new campus in Pune recently.

Weiss claims to have invested over Rs 3 crore in infrastructure for setting up this new campus in Chakan, Pune and additionally another Rs 5 Crore in putting up the engineering knowledge centre equipped with the latest state of the art live demo units for customer training and engineering consultancy services.

Uwe Weiss, Group CEO, Weiss said, “As a part of the growth plan and strategy for Asia Pacific and India Market, Weiss Group has been beefing up its operations and resources in the region. The first step in that direction, we are adding customer-facing and technical resources, competence & infrastructure. The New Campus in the Chakan Industrial Area in Pune is a big step in this direction.” He was available for interaction through video conferencing due to travel restrictions imposed because of Coronavirus pandemic.

Sanjeebit Choudhury, CEO, India and vice president- Asia Pacific added that, "I sincerely feel that in coming years, our global knowledge of the automation industry and understanding of customer's needs across automotive and general industry applications which combines five different Weiss technology portfolio will be valued and beneficial to our customers here in India too." 

The facility was inaugurated by Dr Juergen Morhard, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mumbai and Rajesh Nath, managing director, VDMA India.

As per statistics provided by VDMA, Germany is India's largest trading partner in Europe. There are more than 1700 German companies active in India and over 600 Indo- German JV in operations. As per 2018 data, India ranks 15th in the list of Germany’s global trade partners. Bilateral trade increased to 18.5 billion euro (Rs 152,976.5 cr)as per 2018 data. In 2018, India's exports were 8.2 billion euro (Rs 67,805.8 cr) to Germany and imports were worth 10.3 billion euros (Rs 85,170.7 cr). 

The Weiss Group is spread across 17 countries and has sales worth about 125 million euros worldwide.
