VW unveils Beetle, XL1, launches Touraeg

Volkswagen unveiled the New Touraeg SUV at the Auto Expo. The all-new 2012 version is quite handsomely styled. There is an abundance of space inside and quality conforms to VW’s global standards. Powering the SUV is a 3.0-litre V6 diesel that develops around 240bhp. The Touraeg will go on sale in April this year.

The German automaker also showcased its XL1 concept, a low-drag, teardrop-shaped body that, according to the company, has an insane fuel consumption figure of 111kpl! A two-cylinder 1.0-litre TDI motor developing 48bhp coupled with a 27bhp electric motor and a drag coefficient of 0.186 helps it attain this feat.

Also on display was the iconic VW Beetle in its newest avatar. The latest Beetle has grown up, both in appearance and size. It retains many elements of the previous model and continues to look like an iteration of the original design classic. The interiors lose the flower vase now but the upward-opening glovebox does add a hint of vintage Beetle to the new dashboard. There is more space than before. Engine options include a 1.2 and 1.4-litre TSI petrol motors.
