Volvo Buses bags major order from VRL Logistics
The 51-bus order includes Volvo 9400XL and 9400PX multi-axle models with I-Shift.
Volvo Buses has announced an order for 51 multi-axle intercity coaches from VRL Logistics, one of India’s leading bus transport service providers.
The order includes Volvo 9400XL and 9400PX multi-axle models equipped with I-Shift. At present, VRL operates Volvo buses on one of the longest routes in India – connecting Bangalore to Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
While signing the order, VRV Sriprasad, managing director, Volvo Buses, said, “VRL Logistics, with whom Volvo has a longstanding partnership, has been at the forefront of redefining intercity bus travel business in India. We are grateful to the VRL team for placing their trust in Volvo to provide them with the right solutions to provide the best travel experience to their passengers. With this development we will further strengthen our association.”
The Volvo 9400PX, a 14.5-metre-long coach with steerable tag axle is designed to offer the highest levels of comfort to both passengers and drivers and ideal for plying on long-distance routes. The Volvo 9400XL, introduced in India in 2008, is the best-selling coach in the country.
All models from Volvo Buses come equipped with the latest safety features, both in terms of regulatory compliance as well as initiatives from the Swedish company. Volvo says it was the first company to start offering Bus Body Code features in its products before the norm came into effect in India.’
“At Volvo Buses, while we continue to bring in new technologies and features, our focus on imparting the best training to drivers remains as before. On-road driver behaviour and driving practice can prevent mishaps from happening, which is a crucial first step to a safe journey and safer every day. Volvo has trained over 26,000 bus drivers till date and this gives us confidence to focus on the entire concept of safety,” Sriprasad said.
VRL Logistics has among the largest fleet of commercial vehicles in India comprising 4,077 vehicles including 373 buses and 3,704 trucks.
VRL is also the largest Volvo bus fleet operator among private operators in India with 140 coaches. The company has a strong presence in southern and western India, supported by a professional team and maintenance infrastructure.
