French multinational software solutions provider, Dassault Systemes offers a host of 3D CAD, digital mock-up and PLM tools in its 3DExperience cascade.

India’s UNO Minda Group, a leading Tier 1 vendor of proprietary automotive solutions to vehicle manufacturers, spanning across horns, air filtration systems, canisters, lighting and battery systems, has adopted Dassault Systemes’ 3DExperience suite to drive its new product development process and improve business efficiency.

The French technology enabler views that adoption of its software solutions will enable the UNO Minda Group to integrate data and systems across the engineering and manufacturing value chain, reduce new product development time, and improve operational efficiencies and product reliability, thereby positively impacting its overall market share in its area of operation. Software solutions for the automotive industry contribute a significant 31 percent to Dassault’s overall global revenues, with the space making for a substantial 50 percent of the company’s business in India.

With a strong growth potential of the Indian automotive industry, which closed FY16-17 with net revenues of US$ 43.5 billion, and business slated to touch US$ 100 billion by FY2020, there has been a growing demand to invest in technology, with cost and quality remaining to be the biggest challenges for automotive suppliers today. With an aim to address these challenges, UNO Minda consulted Dassault Systemes, which, through its local partner, CSM Software, conducted a value assessment that detailed a clear roadmap for the deployment and adoption of the 3DExperience platform across the group over the next three years. The component major aims to improve its product quality, reliability and cross-functional team collaboration, in order to deliver product innovation and meet aggressive growth targets, which it has defined for the future.

According to Naveesh Garg, chief strategy and technology officer, UNO Minda Group. “At UNO Minda Group, market leadership begins with understanding the customer requirements and turning these requirements into products as quickly as possible, keeping quality and cost at the forefront. Since agility is the key to delivering the latest products to our customers, we are embarking on a new initiative named ‘Enterprise PLM Journey’ by adopting the Dassault Systemes 3DExperience platform. This deployment is completely aligned with the long-term focus of the group to develop new capabilities and solution addressing Electrical and Mechatronics domains.”

Speaking on the successful installation of its solutions, Samson Khaou, managing director, India, Dassault Systemes, said, “Global automotive suppliers from India, pursuing new opportunities, want to ensure that they can satisfy customer requirements and still deliver profitable results aligned with their existing resources and capabilities. Dassault Systemes has a strong presence in the automotive OEM and supplier ecosystem in India, through our direct and partner networks. Deployment of the ‘Bid to Win’ industry solution experience based on the 3DExperience platform at UNO Minda Group through our partner CSM Software will create a new benchmark for the auto component industry and its way forward in India.”

According to VS Mahadevan, chief executive officer and director, CSM Software, remarked, “UNO Minda Group’s decision to adopt Dassault Systemes’ 3DExperience platform is a natural and significant progression of CSM’s valued relationship with them. As an industry leading Automotive Supplier, this adoption will not only directly benefit the UNO Minda Group, but also the entire ecosystem they operate in.”

China, India, Japan and Korea are the key markets for the company in the Asia-Pacific region and Dassault Systemes also sees a lot of demand coming in for testing and simulation solutions, with the host of contemporary mobility technologies, including autonomous driving coming into the picture over the next decade.

The global systems solution major has six office locations in the country and employs over 2,000 employees with Pune and Bangalore centres being two of its largest global research centres across the world.
