TVS Motor's social arm to manufacture million masks

The unprecedented outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact across the world has made it an unparalleled global health crisis. The virus has proved to be the greatest challenge to the healthcare systems with frontline workers such as doctors, nurses and health officers working selflessly to contain it and ensure timely treatment.
To support the contribution at a time of this pandemic, on World Health Day, Srinivasan Services Trust (SST) – the social arm of TVS Motor Company expresses gratitude for their selfless service. As part of its efforts, SST has pledged on-ground support to healthcare workers in addition to announcing Rs 30 crore spend towards combatting Covid-19.
The TVS Motor's social arm is making 1 million masks for essential service providers including healthcare staff and supplying them in villages across Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, of which over 650,000 masks have already been distributed so far.
It has also deployed vehicles and disinfectants to municipalities, and the Trust is also distributing disposable hand gloves, helping produce medical equipment to curb the spread of Covid-19.
In addition, SST has handed over a ‘Disinfectant Spray Cannon’ vehicle to the corporation of Chennai to aid in disinfecting localities through chemical spraying. Under which over 2,000 villages have been disinfected through this initiative.
The trust is also employing factory kitchens at the manufacturing units in Hosur and Padi to make food packets. These are supplied to all essential care workers in the vicinity, from police personnel, municipal staff to healthcare workers. The Trust has distributed over 120,000 food packets to healthcare and essential workers.
