Bangalore, December 26: Two-wheeler major TVS Motor Co is set to increase its number of dealerships to 800 by March 2013. Talking to Autocar Professional on the sidelines of the launch of the 125 Phoenix in Bangalore, H S Goindi, president - marketing, TVS Motor (pictured above) said, “We will be adding about 60-70 dealers this year.”

The company has already appointed 40-45 new dealers in the first eight months of the current fiscal (2012-13). With this, he said the company currently has around 750 main dealerships spread across 550-600 towns in the country. By the end of March 2013, he said the company is expected to have around 800 dealerships, he added.

According to sources, the company is expected to expand its dealership network in the North and Eastern parts of the country as it already has a strong footprint in South India. While there are around 250 main dealers in South India, 500-odd dealers are spread across other parts of the country.

The company’s dealership network has two formats: main dealers and sub-dealers. Currently, around 2,500 sub-dealers, who tap two-wheeler buyers in semi-urban and rural areas, function under 750 main dealers.
