Chennai-based TVS Motor Company has won two key awards at the 2018 CII - ITC Sustainability Awards. The company won the award in the category of Corporate Excellence and Corporate Social Responsibility at the event held in New Delhi.

This is the second time TVS Motor Company has been awarded the ‘Corporate Social Responsibility Award’ by CII – ITC. As a part of the review, the team from CII-ITC Sustainability closely monitored end-to-end processes of the company, undertook in-depth site assessment for multiple days, and interviewed the top management across all key departments. The award was handed over today to TVS Motor Company by Amitabh Kant, CEO, NITI Aayog at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi.

Commenting on receiving the award, Venu Srinivasan, chairman, TVS Motor Company, said, “We are honoured to have been bestowed with two awards at this prestigious event. TVS Motor Company lauds the noble mission of CII-ITC to nurture companies to compete, expand opportunity and excel while keeping sustainability at the core of their workings. Over the years, we have strived towards becoming a responsible manufacturer by going to great lengths to incorporate sustainable practices in design, manufacturing process, sales as well as service. Our social arm – Srinivasan Services Trust has also been instrumental in empowering over 5,000 villages across the country and inculcating sustainable form of living. This accolade will be a strong motivator for our workforce and volunteers to work harder towards achieving sustainability.”

The CII-ITC Sustainability Awards recognises and rewards excellence in businesses that are seeking ways to be more sustainable and inclusive in their activities. The awards are a part of the continued efforts to create awareness on sustainability practices and to create capacities in business. More than recognition, the awards measure performance and provide detailed feedback for opportunities to excel. In the past 12 years, cumulatively, 801 businesses have applied of which 236 have been recognised. The company says there are limited number of applications that are accepted to maintain strong competition and high standards of excellence.
