TVS launches Bluetooth and drum brake-equipped Jupiter ZX at Rs 84,468
TVS Motor Co expands its best-selling scooter range to seven variants; Bluetooth connectivity enables new features such as turn-by-turn navigation and voice assist; Jupiter sales since launch 10 years ago cross 5.77 million units.
TVS Motor Co has launched another variant of its best-selling scooter, the Jupiter. The new Jupiter ZX Drum, priced at Rs 84,468 (ex-showroom Delhi), is the ZX variant with a drum brake and its SmartXonnect Bluetooth tech, previously available only with the disc brake variant.
The new variant features TVS' Bluetooth-enabled SmartXonnect technology that allows riders to experience a host of connected features, including turn-by-turn navigation, voice assist and notification alerts. The scooter also comes with a built-in USB charger. The ZX also gets two new colours – Starlight Blue and an exclusive new option called Olive Gold.
The Jupiter ZX Drum continues to be powered by an air-cooled, 109.7cc, single-cylinder engine which develops maximum power of 7.8hp and 8.8 Nm of torque. Nestling this engine is a simple underbone frame, suspended by a telescopic fork and monoshock setup. Braking duties are handled by drum brakes at both ends.
With this latest iteration, the TVS Jupiter range stands expanded to seven variants – four of the 110cc variant and three 125cc – with prices ranging from Rs 73,240 through to 89,648 (ex-showroom Delhi).
Jupiter crosses 5.77 million sales in India
The TVS Jupiter is the closest rival to India’s best-selling scooter, the Honda Activa, which recently surpassed the 30-million-unit sales milestone. Launched in September 2013, the TVS Jupiter crossed the 5-million sales milestone in June 2022 and has clocked cumulative sales of over 5.77 million units till end-June 2023 (57,76,237 units).
In FY2023, TVS Motor Co sold a total of 12,45,993 scooters, which constituted strong 44% year-on-year growth (FY2021: 8,66,851 units). The Jupiter, with 729,546 units, accounted for 59% of total TVS scooter sales last fiscal. However, growth has slowed down in the first quarter of FY2024 and the April-June 2023 period has seen total scooter sales of 320,069 scooters, up 6.34% YoY (April-June 2022: 300,980 units).
