TVS infotech, part of the TVS Group of companies, recently launched a new ERP solution specially targeted at auto component manufacturers. SmartCompo, an all-in-one business solution, based on SAP’s platform, aims to meet the challenges of handling the increasing complexities in a component manufacturer’s business.
Elaborating on how SAP, along with TVSi, targeted the auto component manufacturing industry, Mahendra Panchal, VP enterprise solutions (pictured), said “SAP realised that the key to aiding small and medium scale industries in India is addressing the constants. After a wide study, they decided to bundle all the features and functions that were common to a particular industry in a compact mode.” This way, he added, 80-90 percent of all the functions were bundled together.
“By and large, 80-90 percent f the requirements are the same in terms of functionality and complexity. The rest 10-20 varies from industry to industry and region to region. Pre-configuring most of the requirements has a lot of advantages.
It brings down the cost for the customer, and seeing how the customer is mainly a small or medium sized company, this proves very advantageous for the customer,” Mahendra said.
