Tork Motors launches Kratos starting at Rs 108,000

Tork Motors, one of India’s first electric motorcycle manufacturers, has launched its tech-laden electric motorcycle Kratos, along with a variant Kratos-R at Rs 108,000 and 123,000 (ex-showroom Pune including subsidy). The deliveries will commence from April, 2022.

The e-motorcycles have a maximum claimed range of 180km in ideal condition, 120km in eco-mode, 100km in city-mode and 70km in sports-mode respectively. The Kratos has a maximum speed of 100kph, while the sporty Kratos-R offers max speed of 105kph with a max power of 9 kW. The e-motorcycle features geofencing, find my vehicle function, motor walk assist, crash alert, track mode analytics, smart charge analysis and vacation mode. Kratos-R customers will get complimentary access to Tork Motor’s fast-charging network T Net for a period of two years. The e-motorcycles can be charged in 4-5 hours, while using the company’s network Kratos-R can be charged 80% in 60 minutes.

The made-in-India electric motorcycle is powered by an Axial Flux motor and the company’s proprietary 4kWh Tork Liion battery pack. The battery is water-resistant (up to one meter of water) and BMS that records data from four different temperature sensors, voltage and current for real-time analytics. The Kratos is made with high strength steel and features split trellis frame with the battery pack nestled within to make it a compact and manoeuvrable motorcycle for superior ride performance. The e-motorcycle comes with multi-ride mode, reverse mode, front storage box, battery indicator, safe home feature, crash alert and anti-theft system, daytime running lights (DRL), hazard light and guide me home lights among others.

The company says it will provide a home charger, which can be charged easily by simply installing a charging plug at home. In addition, Tork Motors also plan to install a network of charging stations, called T Net around the city for the ease and connectivity of riders. In terms of servicing, Tork’s proprietary operating system ‘Tiros’, along with built-in 4G telemetry will allow the team to offer proactive service. Further, users can install the mobile app which will provide in-app navigation, information on battery levels along with vital details.

Tork says it will roll out the bikes in a phased manner across India, with phase 1 cities comprising Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi. In phase 2, it will target 100 cities.

In states where a state subsidy for EVs is applicable, there are further benefits on purchasing the bikes. In Pune, for example, state subsidies bring effective ex-showroom prices down to Rs 1,07,999 and Rs 1,22,999, while in Delhi, the Kratos' ex-showroom price is as low as Rs 1,02,499.

Kapil Shelke, CEO and founder, Tork Motors said, “We are proud to showcase the fruit of our labour and learning, with the launch of India’s first electric motorcycle - Kratos and its variant Kratos-R. As the name indicates, Kratos is the personification of strength and power. We believe our rigorously tested product will be a gamechanger in the mobility segment, that will not only benefit our customers in making an informed choice but also offer financial benefits such as saving money on fuel.”

Tork Motors says it has filed more than 50 patents and designs under IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) to bolster its R&D and cutting-edge technology since its inception.
