Keen to make the most of the surging wave of demand for SUVs in the country, Tata Motors, the utility vehicle market leader with an 18.7% share in the April-July 2022 period, has launched all-new Jet editions of its flagship 6/7-seater Safari, the premium five-seater Harrier and the Tata Nexon, which is India’s best-selling SUV at present.

The Jet editions of the three SUVs – four variants each for the Safari and Nexon and two for the Harrier – are available at Tata Motors dealerships from today.

Commenting on the launch, Rajan Amba, Vice-President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, said, “Over the last few years, Tata Motors has been striding ahead, consistently grabbing a sizeable market share in the industry on the back of a robust portfolio that sports eclectic design, provides a pleasurable and safe drive experience and impressive aftersales services. We are elated to introduce the brand new Jet Edition in our Safari, Harrier and Nexon portfolios, adding more cheer for customers this festive season.”

He added, “The latest Jet Edition will be a compelling package of striking exteriors and inviting interiors, which is aimed at providing a unique and exquisite lifestyle to our customers.”

Common to all Jet Edition models is the new ‘Starlight’ dual-tone paint finish with bronze body and a silver roof. Additionally, the SUVs get black alloys and silver skid plates and the front and rear. On the inside, the Jet Edition models bring a new white and black dual-tone scheme with a new bronze trim and stitching.

Additional safety for Safari and Harrier Jet Editions
In addition to the safety features offered on the XZ+ variant, the Jet Edition adds more active safety features to the Safari and Harrier range. The new features include a driver drowsiness alert, panic brake alert, and an alert after impact braking. It also gets additional features like USB C-type charger in all rows, new headrests for the Safari, and electronic parking brake and all-four disc brakes on the Harrier.

The equipment change to the Jet Edition of the Nexon is not as comprehensive as the Harrier and the Safari, but Tata is now offering a wireless charger with the SUV.

Same powertrains on Jet Editions
Under the hood, the SUVs carry forward the same powertrains as the standard model. The Nexon comes with a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 110hp, 1.5-diesel engine, and both the engines are paired to either a 6-speed manual or an AMT.

The Harrier and Safari also continue with the 170hp, 2.0-litre diesel engine mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Tata Motors is not giving the Jet treatment to its popular Nexon EVs and the Punch. However, Nexon EVs are available with the Dark Edition, while the Punch is available in the Kaziranga Edition.
